Federal Government Finally Admits Cannabis Can Help Kill Cancer Cells

All of us can expect the federal ban on medical marijuana to go away in the near future. There have been recent developments on the popular issue of the power of cannabis in fighting cancer cells. In fact, the federal government has already taken a positive step by rescheduling it from a schedule I drug to schedule II drug. Schedule I drug stands for “harmful”, “addictive” and non beneficial to health drug.

It is nothing more than a surprise change in the way the government is now treating the case of cannabis being able to destroy cancer. The government had held a strong anti stand against it so far.

This has been made possible because of a study that was conducted some months ago. This study was performed at the St. George’s University, London by a team of scientists. They were able to prove the effectiveness of cannabinoids in shrinking aggressive brain tumors.

According to the study, the two highest amounts of cannabinoids found in marijuana, helped in weakening cancer cells to a high degree. The two cannabinoids are cannabidiol (CBD) and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The cancer cells were weakened to such a level that their susceptibility to radiation treatment increased further. The scientists studied the simultaneous use of radiation therapy and cannabinoids, and they found massive reductions.

Even the animal studies published by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) showed that marijuana helped in killing some cancer cells while also reducing the size of other cancer cells.

The amazing medical benefits of cannabis have been known for a long time. It is only now that you can find a federal-funded website admitting to these benefits backed by cited research on the curative benefits. It is not only a big breakthrough and opportunity, it is also surprising.

This is certainly a groundbreaking step in the direction of using cannabis for anti-cancer treatment.
